My First Seder…

Tonight I took part in the Jewish custom of Seder…the Passover dinner. And might I just say—it was one of the most symbolic and profound meals I have ever had! It was put on my Light of Messiah Ministries whose founders are also friends of our family. How powerful a Seder is when the Messiah is part of it! I took pictures…bought a book on conducting a Passover…and I this next week I will blog on different parts of the Seder—so by the end of the week you can conduct your own first Passover meal!

And as we prepare for Holy Week and Passover…here are some of the books we are reading to our children to remember our Savior’s sacrifice…

The Easter Story by Carol Heyer…you can buy here…explains why we celebrate Easter.

The Eastery Story retold by Allia Zobel-Nolan…you can buy here…very simple story for toddlers about the Easter story.

And my own personal favorite, if you can only buy one—this would be THE ONE I’d buy…
“Love One Another: The Last Days of Jesus” retold by Lauren Thompson…you can buy it here…and it has BEAUTIFUL artwork and POWERFUL WORDS…I cried the first time I read it to the children…full of truth and the only of the three that actually have Jesus on the cross in the book (this may be best for older preschoolers and older children…but I think it’s ok for my 4 and 5 year olds). Here’s a sneak peak inside…

They plotted…

Wow. The power of the cross…even in a children’s book…it gets me.

I can’t wait to share every detail of Seder…from the symbolism of slavery in the meal all the way to Christ! This is one meal I think every believer should know about—and how incredible it would be for us to honor this meal…just as Jesus did…in our own homes. You are going to be BLOWN away when you hear the symbolism! Can’t wait to share!!!

Wish you all a happy weekend!

XOXO!

Andrea
